Tsunoda won the F4 Japan Championship in 2018 before competing in both F3 and F2.

After taking third place in F2 in 2020, he joined the F1 grid the following season.

However, he admitted that he had an embarrassing moment early in his racing days.

As a child, Tsunoda competed in karting events where he suffered a breakdown after using the restroom.

The 24-year-old told Red Flags Podcast: “As a racing driver, when you get ***, you take the top part (of your racing suit), roll it down, and put your suit over your knees.

“I couldn’t do it properly, I couldn’t do it properly, and I sucked.

“When I got up from the toilet and tried to put it on, I could smell it from behind. ‘What’s going on? Something’s going on.’

“When I saw the mirror there was some dirt on it and I didn’t actually pull it down and the dirt was just kissing the edge of the dress. It wasn’t a good moment.”

The hosts were left in hysterics before Tsunoda revealed that the incident occurred before the race.

He was later asked how he performed on the track and added: “I probably won.”

Tsunoda hopes to prevent a repeat of the toilet trauma in the remaining three races of the season.

The season will continue with the Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 23.

An eighth-place finish or higher would see him equal Tsunoda’s best-ever points total in a season.

In 2024, he collected 28 points from 21 races and ranked 11th in the Drivers’ Championship rankings.
