Turkey’s Akkor active protection system (APS) will enter service on the domestically produced Altay main battle tank (MBT).

It was learned at SAE Media Group’s Future Armored Vehicle Survival (FAVS) 2024 conference, held in London from 11 to 13 November.

On November 12, it was announced that Akkor trials were carried out and APS will be put into service in Altay in 2025. SSB announced the signing of the Altay mass production contract on May 29.

In his presentation on November 12, Erdem said that in addition to Altay, Akkor will be installed on Turkey’s Leopard 2A4 MBT as part of the upgrade and on the Korhan light armored vehicle. Incandescent consists of a high-speed destruction launcher, intelligent destruction munitions and a very high-resolution radio.

Erdem also introduced the Pulat APS, which was installed and operational as part of the upgrade to the entire M60T MBT battalion. Pulat consists of countermeasure modules, control panel and power distribution unit.
