Woman arrested after deaths at Swanage care home released without charge | UK News

A 60-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after three people died at a Swanage care home has been released without charge.

Police said the deaths of Gainsborough Care Home residents – two men, aged 74 and 91, and an 86-year-old woman – were still being treated as unexplained.

They had previously stated that the main subject of the investigation was carbon monoxide poisoning.

All seven people were taken to hospital and the property was evacuated. last month’s incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Third said: dorset Police were still working with the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

He said the woman was arrested “to provide legal protection to the person, while also ensuring a full accounting and recovering any available evidence.”

DCI Third said they no longer believed he was responsible for any “acts or omissions” involving gross negligence.

The chief inspector added: “Our investigation is still ongoing and we await the results from detailed forensic presentations and analysis which will help us establish the causes of the deaths, which may take several months.

“Families of the residents who unfortunately lost their lives are being kept informed of any developments related to the investigation.”

The care home, run by Agincare, has 48 people, all of whom are elderly and some of whom have dementia.

When the emergency occurred on the morning of October 23, all residents were evacuated to a nearby church hall.

While a hazard response team, 10 ambulances and six fire brigades were dispatched, gas engineers were later seen inspecting the field.
