Frederick Forsyth’s seminal 1971 thriller The Day of the Coyote has already spawned two big-budget films and is now getting a polished 21st-century television adaptation.

Directed by Brian Kirk, known for his work on Game of Thrones, and written by Top Boy author Ronan Bennett, the new film stars Eddie Redmayne (Fantastic Beasts) as the Jackal, a sophisticated and elusive hitman.

While the original book was set in the 1960s and centered on an assassination attempt on French President Charles de Gaulle, this new 10-episode series brings the story to a modern setting while also delving further into the lone wolf’s past.

Now the target is a fictional Silicon Valley tech entrepreneur whose new software threatens to expose the finances of the world’s wealthy elite. The Jackal also has to deal with being chased across Europe by a ruthless intelligence officer played by Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die).

Release date of Day of the Jackal in the USA

Day of the Coyote premieres on Peacock in the US Thursday, November 14, with the release of the first five episodes of the series. The remaining episodes will air weekly on Thursdays, culminating with a two-episode finale on December 12.
