Texas couple accused of killing man they lived with and covering his body with rugs

A. texas man and the woman is accused of stabbing a man to death after living in his home.

Leo Moore and Haley Barber, both 20, are charged with capital murder in the killing of Johnny Mac Ross Jr.

Moore and Barber, who reportedly lived with Ross, allegedly killed him, wrapped him in rugs and sheets, stole his car and then led police on a chase through the East Dallas suburb of Garland.

Garland police arrested the duo following a chase Monday afternoon. FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth.

Garland Police Lt. Pedro Barineau told the press, “It’s been a few days. It doesn’t appear that the stabbing occurred that morning.” “We are working with the medical examiner to determine how long ago this person died.”

Surveillance video shows the couple going in and out of the apartment during the time Ross is believed to be alive. He was stabbed to death.

Neighbors said that the couple lived in the same apartment with Ross and that a strong smell had been coming from the house for several days, and that the smell was getting worse as the days went by.

Neighbor Dillan Meadows told FOX 4 he heard unusually loud noises coming from the apartment. Other neighbors echoed the same sentiment.

“We’ve heard them go into this a few times in the last week,” Meadows said.

Meadows spoke positively about Ross, whom he had only known for six months.

“We used to go fishing out back all the time,” Meadows said. “He would come down and sit there and fish with us. He would bring us food, sit on the grill. He was just a really great guy.”

Others told FOX 4 there was high-risk activity at the apartment.

“There is a lot more information that our detectives are trying to uncover,” Barineau said.

Moore and the Barber allegedly stole Ross’ 2001 Mercedes before leading police on a chase. They are being held without bail at the Garland Detention Center.
