Sedota spoiled against Pomfret traffic study | News, Sports, Jobs

John Sedota

“I like speed” Pomfret Town Board member John Sedota said other town officials looked on in horror at the November meeting.

No, no, no – Sedota did not accept any strange addictions. He was giving his reason for voting against the Osborne Road traffic study.

Pomfret Highway Inspector Jude Gardner said a resident of the road wanted the speed limit reduced from 55 mph. Traffic studies need to be done to lower the speed limit. Gardner needed to request the traffic review from Chautauqua County and needed the town board’s approval to do so.

Except Sedota understood. The board voted 4-1 to approve the request.

“I think anyone over the age of 55 on this path must be crazy.” said Pomfret Town Supervisor Dan Pacos.

Sedota made the speed comment during the vote call. He joked that he would be the one to buy tickets. Sedota also noted that this was the second-to-last board meeting. (He filled the board seat vacated by Brett Christy’s resignation, but Mike Lee, who attended the meeting as a spectator, was elected to the full-time seat in January.)

City Clerk Allison Vento couldn’t quite believe Sedota was serious and asked him to announce he was voting. “NO” Confirmed Sedota claim about traffic research “NO” vote.

“Thank you very much, John,” Gardner said with dripping sarcasm.
