Murang’a: Grief After Female KCSE Candidate Fainted and Died in Hospital

to Murang – Another tragedy occurred in the ongoing Kenya Secondary Certificate Education (KCSE) exam.

This follows the untimely death of a candidate at Gakui Secondary School in Murang’a district on Tuesday, November 12.

Kandara District Deputy Commissioner Peter Maina said the girl collapsed at school but died an hour later while receiving treatment.

“The girl was taken to a nearby health center while she was unconscious but had a pulse… She was hospitalized and efforts were initiated to save her life. Unfortunately, he could not achieve this,” Maina said, according to NTV.

He noted that the incident created uneasiness in the exam center, but administrators regained control.

family In a statement through the deceased’s spokesman, Martin Kamau, he said that the deceased was in high spirits and hoped to achieve good results.

“Our daughter was in very high spirits and was looking forward to good results in the exam. We accept God’s will… this cannot be undone. Questions are permanent… we find it hard to believe that she is no more, but that is the truth. Pray for us,” said Kamau.

Kamau said that the sudden death of the student deeply affected the family and they hope that the investigating agencies will publish a report explaining their daughter’s death.

“We have been told to wait for the autopsy report, which will provide clues as to what went wrong, until the system shuts down… all we have right now is patience and prayers,” he added.
