Labor Counsel withdraws after Nazrul harassed in Geneva

Mohammad Kamrul Islam, First Secretary (Labour) Labor Welfare Wing of Permanent Mission of Bangladesh in Geneva, Dr. He withdrew after an incident involving harassment towards Asif Nazrul. .

In an official statement, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment confirmed that Kamrul Islam had been administratively removed from his duties and instructed to immediately report to the Ministry in accordance with regulations.

According to sources, Asif Nazrul was returning to Bangladesh last Thursday after a meeting with the International Labor Organization (ILO) Executive Board and senior officials. When he arrived at Geneva Airport, he was surrounded and harassed by a group of people after getting out of his car. Bangladesh Mission Labor Advisor Kamrul Islam and the mission’s local staff Mizan were present at the scene.

Kamrul Islam, BCS 29th batch officer, has been serving in Bangladesh Mission in Geneva since 2021. Prior to this, he was serving as private secretary to the Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates Welfare.
