Worcester police ask for help finding murder suspect

Crime

Police allege 30-year-old Lino Menjivar killed a man in Worcester in April.

Police are searching for a suspect accused of murder in Worcester.

A wanted poster on Worcester Police Department social media states that Lino Menjivar allegedly shot and killed someone in April 2024. The poster stated that Menjivar should be considered armed and dangerous.

Court documents show officers received reports of shots fired at 1 Allendale Avenue around 2:17 a.m. on April 13. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying in the roadway with “multiple apparent gunshot wounds,” according to documents. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

Documents said officers used security camera footage at the scene to find a car that police said belonged to Menjivar’s roommate. The roommate allegedly told police he hadn’t seen Menjivar or the car since the day before the shooting, documents say.

Officers also found a witness who told police she was with Menjivar the day before the shooting and that the two often parked on Allendale Avenue to drink, according to documents. Police said the witness told them Menjivar arrived at his home in the early morning hours of April 16 and told the witness “he was in trouble and needed to run.”

“Menjivar also stated to the witness that on 13.04.2024, while Menjivar was sitting in his car, a black male approached him,” the documents said. “The male was circling Menjivar’s car and had his hand in his pocket as if he had a firearm. Menjivar told the witness that he shot the man while he was in the car and emptied the magazine.”

Police claim Worcester murder suspect fled to Virginia

Menjivar then asked the witness to drive him to Virginia, and the witness complied, the document alleges.

Police said they found the car on April 20. The driver told police that Menjivar gave him the car for free, according to documents.

“Menjivar told the known operator that he had shot someone and did not want to worry about the vehicle anymore,” court documents said.

Menjivar is accused of murder, carrying an unlicensed weapon, carrying a loaded gun and shooting within 150 meters of the house. His wanted poster shows a facial tattoo above his left eyebrow. The poster states his last known location was Virginia.

Worcester police asked anyone with information on Menjivar’s whereabouts to contact them at (508) 779-8651.
