Cookie Monster returns to Lumberton home after alleged candy theft

Cookie Monster made a surprise visit to a Lumberton home Wednesday evening, clearing up confusion after the greedy blue monster raided the candy bowl on Halloween night.

The beloved Sesame Street character did things exceedingly right by leaving behind a generous amount of candy and cookies in a generous, kind gesture that was caught on Ring security camera.

Cookie Monster’s mother, who wore her son’s costume and left the gifts behind Wednesday night, said in a note that she taught her children to be honest and never intended to steal or take all the candy.

Apparently, Cookie Monster was keeping an eye on his sick sister on Halloween night and wanted to make sure she had plenty of sweet treats, too.

Complicating matters and adding to the Halloween confusion was the fact that the sign next to the candy bowl was vague and open to interpretation as to how much candy trick-or-treaters should actually get.

Neighbors say they also want to return a gift left behind by Cookie Monster’s mother.
