MILWAUKEE — Another Walgreens location in Milwaukee appears to be scheduled to close.

Councilwoman Milele Coggs on Wednesday met with Harambee neighborhood resident Martin Luther King Jr. He asked them to prepare for the store at Drive and Hadley to close on Dec. 5.

He urges customers to find another pharmacy, as the next closest Walgreens is more than a mile away.

“Residents in Harambee and surrounding neighborhoods rely on this store for their pharmacy and other retail needs because the next closest pharmacy is more than a mile away,” Councilwoman Milele A. Coggs said in an emailed statement. “I would urge anyone using this location, especially pharmacy services, to start planning now for alternative arrangements.”

The MLK Drive location becomes the fourth Milwaukee Walgreens location to announce closing plans this year as part of a nationwide trend of store closures.

The Walgreens at 91st and Appleton is also scheduled to close next month. The store at 26th and National closed earlier this month, and the store at Teutonia and Capitol closed in January.
