WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Road closures are expected this weekend during this weekend’s Battleship Half Marathon.

2,200 participants will run from 7 to 11 a.m. in downtown Wilmington.

half marathon course It begins on Water Street at the Alton Lennon Federal Building and turns south to and around the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, north on US 421 to and over the Isabel Holmes Bridge, and turns towards and around downtown and Lake Greenfield . It ends at Water Street in front of the federal courthouse.

10K race It will start the same way, but turn at Greenfield Street and finish at Water Street. 5K race It stays in downtown Wilmington.

Water St between Market St and Princess St will be closed from noon on Saturday.

The following roads will be closed as of 03:00 on Sunday

• Water St between Princess St and Chestnut St
• Chestnut St between Front St and Water St
• Market St between Front St and Water St
• Front St between Brunswick St and Red Cross St
• Front St between Ann St and Orange St
• Hanover St between Nutt St and Front St
• Red Cross Street between Water Street and 2nd Street
• Northbound Front St between Burnett Blvd/Carolina Beach Rd and Orange St
• Southbound 2nd Avenue between Grace St and Red Cross St
• Southbound exit ramp from Cape Fear Memorial Bridge/Hwy 74/76 to Front St.
• Front St on ramp to Cape Fear Memorial Bridge/westbound Hwy 74/76
• Greenfield St between Front St and 2nd St
