Troopers search for 78-year-old semi driver suspect in fatal hit-and-jump incident in Tuscarawas County

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) troopers are searching for the driver of a semi truck suspected in the hit-and-run that killed a 78-year-old Bolivar man.

The semi was traveling north on IR-77 on Oct. 24 when it attempted to make a U-turn in the median near Strasburg, according to a statement from OSHP.

The statement stated that a second vehicle, driven by 78-year-old Dennis Alsept, was also traveling north in the left lane of IR-77.

According to the statement, Alsept later halved.

In the statement, it was stated that after retreating to the beam in the semi-median, it continued to move south on IR-77.

According to the statement, Alsept was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He died from these injuries on October 31.

OSHP is still investigating and has discovered the halfway point extending east on US 250 through Apple Creek, Mount Eaton, Wilmot and Strasburg before reaching north of IR-77.

OSHP also gave a definition of tomorrow, saying in part:

If you have information about the semi, OSHP asks you to call them at 330-339-1103.
