Accident scene in Toledo not cleared, woman trapped

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Toledo woman is stranded and so is her car.

Toledo Police say on Nov. 3, a driver exiting I-475 crashed into another vehicle traveling on Douglas Road. The first car crashed into an apartment building, while the other went through a yard and crashed into a garage behind a duplex.

However, if you pass by the same spot today, it looks the same. The car is still stuck in the garage, caution tape is still in place, and bricks litter the driveway.

To top it off, LeAnna Burton’s car was stuck in that garage the entire time.

“It’s been a week and a half and nothing has been done,” Burton said.

Burton said he can’t do basic errands without his car, forcing him to travel or walk.

“I was seriously disturbed,” Burton said. “Not just physically, mentally and emotionally. Enough is enough and this needs to come out of my garden.

Burton said he has called TPD, the city and affiliated insurance agencies since the crash, but no one has gotten back to him.

13 Action News called TPD and got some answers. TPD said that despite the current situation, the investigation was completed, but they were not able to tow the vehicle outside due to the condition of the garage and the vehicles inside.

They also said it appeared to be an insurance issue.

Meanwhile, Burton said his car’s roof was becoming more and more sloping every day.

Burton said, “I was once again disturbed by an incident in which I was not involved. I was upstairs watching TV, minding my business.”

He said this was not the first accident in this area and people often speed. He wants the city to post signs to encourage people to slow down.

In the meantime, Burton said he’s looking for someone who can help him sort this situation out.
