SCOTT COUNTY, Ind. (WAVE) – The Scott County Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook Wednesday that skeletal remains of a missing woman have been found in the wooded area where she was last seen in September 2024.

The remains were found on November 12 in a wooded area near where Amanda Martin was last seen. A forensic medical examination was planned to both make a positive identification of the remains and determine the possible cause of death. It will take six to eight weeks for the results of this exam to be released.

“We are saddened by the discovery of remains discovered yesterday, but we also recognize that a family can now possibly begin to heal,” Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin said. “This is an active investigation, and I personally appreciate the assistance of our law enforcement partners. Together, we continue to pursue a fact-based conclusion about what happened here.”
