A diaper-wearing kangaroo leads lawmakers in search of hops in Florida

A missing baby kangaroo in a diaper sparked a strange search in a Central Florida community on Wednesday.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said the unusual search near J.D. Floyd Elementary School began after the kangaroo, wearing a blue harness and diaper, was last seen hopping toward Plantation Palms.

The sheriff’s office issued an update at 3:50 p.m., stating that the kangaroo was last seen near the Wind Chime Tree around 3:20 p.m.

Ten minutes after the first update was posted, the sheriff’s office said the backcountry safari was over and the four-month-old kangaroo had been captured in Plantation Estates.

It was a story you had to see to believe. The sheriff’s office released a photo of Animal Protection officers, HCSO deputies and the mischievous kangaroo.
