One driver was killed and the other was injured when two vehicles crashed at a Sherburne County intersection Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 7:40 a.m. in Big Lake Township on Hwy. 10 and Northwest. State Patrol said 172nd Street.

The patrol said a westbound Ford Fusion driven by a 25-year-old man from Elk River collided at the intersection with a Nissan Altima driven by a 40-year-old man from Big Lake behind the wheel.

Both drivers were taken to hospital. The woman died and the man suffered non-critical injuries, according to the patrol. Their identities have not yet been disclosed.
