RICHMONDVILLE – The investigation into Friday’s fatal storage facility fire in Richmondville continued Wednesday and the identity of the deceased is not yet awaiting full autopsy results, police said Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to Superior Storage Units on Main Street in Richmondville around 4 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, for a fire.

Police said the reports involved fires in multiple storage units.

Police said after extinguishing the fire, crews found the remains of a deceased person in one of the warehouses.

The investigation into the cause of the fire, as well as the identity of the person, continued on Wednesday.

A spokesman said on Wednesday that while the autopsy had been completed, the results were still pending further testing, including the identification of the deceased.
