CSFD crews responded to a fire at a homeless camp on Wednesday, smoke was visible

COLORADO SPRINGS — Crews with the Colorado Springs Fire Department are responding to a fire Wednesday afternoon.

A member of the Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed that officers were on the scene of what was believed to be a homeless camp fire at the time.

The fire is located north of Fillmore Street near 3400 Mark Dabling Boulevard. According to our team at the scene, it is located between the Pikes Peak Steal and the Sinton Trailhead.

Police were the first to arrive at the scene and reported that the fire was caused by debris, garbage, tires and propane tanks. The black smoke cloud seen all over the city was caused by fires and explosions in the propane tank and burning tires in the area.

The teams arriving at the scene cleared the area and extinguished most of the fire by 14.20.

It is not yet known whether anyone was injured due to the fire.
