COP29: Most developing countries support rich countries’ $1.3 trillion annual pledge

Small island nations called for stronger climate action at the COP29 summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, amid signs that the world has yet to deliver on its promise to transition away from fossil fuels. Preliminary studies have shown that carbon dioxide emissions from oil, gas and coal have reached a new high this year, putting the 1.5°C threshold further out of reach. Meanwhile, the new draft of the UN climate agreement shows that most developing countries favor an annual commitment of at least $1.3 trillion from rich countries. Jack Board reports from Baku.
