Bayou Blue man accused of hitting another man with a vehicle

LAFOURCHE COUNTY, La. (WGNO) — A Bayou Blue man is facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly hit another man with his car on Saturday, Nov. 9.

The Lafourche County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a report of a crash in Bayou Blue around 2:45 p.m.

At the scene, LPSO deputies say they learned that 33-year-old Lamor Belanger allegedly drove his car into another vehicle, causing injuries to a man standing next to him.

The man was taken to hospital and his condition was reported to be critical. A woman driving the vehicle was also taken to the hospital for evaluation.

LPSO officials said the investigation found Belanger saw the man and woman near an area school and claimed he “intentionally struck the other vehicle” before driving away from the scene.

Belanger was arrested and faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property.
