Sabers defenseman Samuelsson will be out indefinitely with a lower-body injury. Thompson, Luukkonen day by day

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Sabers coach Lindy Ruff said defenseman Mattias Samuelsson will be out indefinitely with a lower-body injury. Ruff described the severity of the injury as “pretty strong.” He did not specify the condition but said Samuelsson was not expected to need surgery. Samuelsson was injured when a Canadian player fell on his leg in Monday’s 7-5 loss to Montreal. Ruff listed leading scorer Tage Thompson and goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen as day-to-day, and both were scheduled to play against Buffalo on Thursday against St. Louis. He has the opportunity to play in the home game against the St. Louis Blues.
