VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) – The Vancouver Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian early Wednesday morning.

Just before 4:30 a.m., officers responded to the crash at the intersection of Southeast 117th Street and Mill Plain Boulevard. Police say a man was hit by a driver and taken to the hospital. The man, whose name has not yet been disclosed, could not be saved.

The driver involved in the accident remained at the scene. Police said there are no signs of injury to the driver at this time.

Traffic in the area will be affected for several hours while the Traffic Unit investigates. People are asked to avoid the area.
