Free admission to the South Texas Botanical Gardens on ‘Texas Recycling Days’

CORPUS CHRISTI, Tx — The South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center invites the public to celebrate HE-B’s Texas Recycling Day on November 15, 16 and 17 with free admission to their facilities.

Any visitor who brings a plastic bottle or single-use plastic bag from any retailer is entitled to free entry to the Botanical Gardens on each designated day.

“Protecting the environment is the mission of both HEB and the Botanical Gardens. Visitors can help preserve and protect ‘Our Texas, Our Future’ while enjoying the Botanical Gardens and Nature Center’s many floral exhibits and the entertaining Butterfly House, Tree House, Resident Reptiles and tropical parrots,” emphasized STBGNC Executive Director Dr. Michael Womack.

HE-B’s Recycling Operation

When visitors arrive, they will throw their plastic bottles or plastic bags into the special recycling bin after check-in. Visitors will also be able to learn how HEBs in their market area process reusable items brought into their stores, place them on recovery trucks, and how they travel to the San Antonio HEB Returned Goods Center for sorting.

“Throughout the year, HEB is committed to maximizing recycling efforts and reducing impact on the environment through waste diversion efforts, as well as many other initiatives that will help preserve and protect our great state now and for future generations,” HEB officials said. a version.

According to organizers, HEB has recycled more than 58 million pounds of plastic bags since 2004. Customers are asked to return their single-use plastic bags to stores because the City of Corpus Christi no longer recycles them.
