911 calls from deadly Stedman shooting released

A woman who was shot to death Sunday was hit by bullets fired through the window of a home in Stedman, according to 911 recordings.

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office records identify 33-year-old Brittany Marie Carmichael as the woman who was shot around 10:10 p.m. Sunday evening in the 5900 block of Clarkton Court. The Sheriff’s Office said the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The incident report lists a total of four victims.

‘Someone shot through my window’

At least two people who called 911 from the nearby Windwood Oaks neighborhood reported hearing gunshots.

“We think we just heard gunshots; three or four continuous and at the same time,” one 911 caller said.

Another caller said the gunshots sounded like they were behind his house.

“I’m sitting here watching TV and it sounds like it’s coming from the very end of my property, which is a side street, and there are new houses there,” the woman said. “I’m worried because I don’t know. ‘I don’t want those bullets coming in the back of my house while I’m sitting here watching TV.’
