Jack Smith Will Resign Before Trump Takes Office

Special Advisor jack smith President-elect plans to resign before being elected Donald Trump’s Return to the White House.

Smith, the prosecutor who is leading the two federal cases against Trump, plans to complete his work and leave his post by January. sources told New York Times on Wednesday.

The special counsel’s decision is partly strategic, as Trump has vowed to fire Smith “within two seconds” of his inauguration, ensuring his investigations play out on his terms. Smith’s goal, according to sources, is to prevent the transfer of unfinished work and avoid a situation where the Trump administration envisions his immediate dismissal.

He was appointed to this position two years ago. New York Times Trump’s imminent return threatened the viability of their investigation, prompting Smith to halt his efforts in what he called “an unprecedented situation.”

Smith’s team applied for a one-month break last week Deadlines have been set for Trump’s trial over interference in the 2020 election, giving him until December 2 to decide how to wrap it up. Smith stated in his filing that he needed time “to evaluate this unprecedented situation and determine the appropriate course forward consistent with Department of Justice policy.”

Despite the setbacks, Smith remains committed to submitting a final report summarizing his findings to be submitted to the Attorney General Merrick B. Garland.
