European Curling Champion: Jenn Dodds still relishes victory

Olympic curling gold medalist Jen Dodds says she is aiming to become European Champion for a second time and still “has the zest to win”.

Dodds, 33, won European gold on Eve Muirhead’s track in 2021 before claiming victory at the Winter Olympics in Beijing the following year.

She is now part of Rebecca Morrison’s circuit, who hopes to be among the medalists when the championships start in Finland on Saturday.

“I think once you get those medals you get the satisfaction of winning and you want to repeat that feeling,” Dodds told BBC Sport Scotland.

“Obviously the Olympics were the peak for me. People still ask me: ‘How does it feel?’ And I still think: ‘It still feels weird.’

“I always said it would take a few years to get used to it, but it’s always exciting to start playing and have the competitiveness behind your country’s name.”

Dodds joined Morrison’s team last year and the quartet missed out on a medal at the 2023 European Championships, finishing fifth in Aberdeen.

But he believes the group has “come a long way” since then and is heading to Finland in good form, having “worked in many areas”.

Dodds now wants to give Morrison and the rest of the group the experience of winning a major championship.

“I remember when I won my first Euro the feeling that it was a big breakthrough for us,” he said.

“The girls haven’t won the Euros, so I’d love to be a part of them experiencing that feeling at the same time.”
