Vogue boss Chioma Nnadi says fashion industry ‘should be concerned’ about return to skinny models

Asked by host Emma Barnett what was driving this trend, Nnadi said: “I don’t think we can attribute it to anything.

“I think Ozempic has something to do with it because we see a lot of celebrities using it, and I think there’s a shift in culture in terms of how we think about our bodies and how we address our bodies.”

Nnadi added that she thinks it’s “important for all bodies to be represented” in fashion, and that it’s something she and her colleagues pay attention to.

“It’s very important to think about the models we might have in our (photo) shoots,” he continued. “It was very important that we included models that were not at sample size.

“But I don’t think it’s something we as a magazine can change on our own because obviously designers are making sample size clothes.”

Referring to the fashion weeks where designers exhibited their new collections last season, Nnadi said: “I didn’t think there was enough representation in body diversity.

“And in some fashion shows, I felt like the models were particularly thin.

“Hopefully this season will be a wake-up call and we won’t see this kind of negative trend (and) this progression.”
