Brisbane News LIVE updates: Broncos’ Ezra Mam charged over post-crash drug test result | Vyleen White’s widow calls for knife controls in schools

A man has been accused of sexually assaulting three women in broad daylight on a Sunshine Coast footpath, with police claiming at least one incident was recorded on the man’s phone.

Three women reported separate incidents in the suburbs of Mountain Creek, Chancellor Park and Sippy Downs (all near the University of the Sunshine Coast’s main campus) in September, October and November.

Police said the women did not know each other and did not know the attacker.

Detective acting senior sergeant Chris Duhig said CCTV footage, witness statements and items found on the man confirmed the evidence taken from the women.

“There was an incident recorded on a cell phone, which helped us gather evidence of what happened,” Duhig said.

He said the women were walking or jogging on public footpaths in the afternoon when they were approached from behind and attacked by the man, who then fled the scene on foot.

“These types of random events and these types of events during daylight hours are very rare,” Duhig said. “It was quite alarming for (the women).”

Duhig added that police suspect the man may have committed more attacks and are asking for witnesses to any of the three incidents or anyone with information about similar attacks to come forward.
