LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – UNLV’s Meadow Roland has been named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the conference announced today.

The 6-foot-9 redshirt freshman forward posted a double-double, averaging 10 points and 13 rebounds in the first two games, helping the Lady Rebels get off to a 2-0 start for the fourth straight season. In his first game against LMU, he scored 11 points off the bench and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead UNLV. Roland shot 4-for-6 from the field, 1-for-3 from three and 2-for-2 at the free throw line against the Lions. In the first half alone against LMU, Roland had five defensive rebounds.

The Fresno, California native continued to score under the basket with a season/career-high 16 rebounds against Northern Arizona. He blocked his first shot on his first attempt in the second quarter against the Lumberjacks. Roland fell one point short of his second double-double with nine points against NAU.

UNLV will make its first road trip of the season, visiting Arizona on Tuesday, November 12, with tip-off set for 5:00 PM PT. The game will air on ESPN+ (subscription required).
