COOS COUNTY, Ore. (KCBY) — The Oregon sheriff’s office confirmed a body was found. 5 year old missing Found.

Joshua James McCoy disappeared three days ago. About 100 people go looking for him on Tuesday Including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and local fire departments.

The Coos County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the child’s body was found Tuesday afternoon.

“It is with great sadness that we must report that missing Joshua McCoy has been found dead,” CCSO said in a statement around 6 p.m. Tuesday evening. he said.

McCoy was missing since saturday evening9 November. It was reported to North Coos dispatch through a third party at 6:27 p.m. First responders arrived at the scene at 6:45 p.m.

It was soon revealed that the child had a mobile phone and a call was made to that phone.

“The information on the phone did not provide any productive information,” CCSO said.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, several Deputies began searching the property while investigating allegations that McCoy had been picked up by a known family member, but this was later determined to be untrue. An ‘Attempted Location’ (ATL) was sent to all surrounding agencies.

On Sunday, November 10, deputies, along with several volunteers, including K9 units from Coos County Search and Rescue and ground and drone operators, continued to search the property and surrounding areas. A pond on the property was drained and nothing of interest was found.

Additional resources were requested from neighboring counties in southern Oregon and northern California during Sunday’s search. Police teams remained at the scene until the following teams arrived in the morning to continue the investigation.

On Monday, November 11, around 06:00, deputies and search and rescue volunteers continued the operation. Several people from local fire departments came to help. Additional CORSAR assistance consisting of search and rescue members from various counties in Oregon and California was requested for the next day.

On Tuesday, November 12, the search continued with the assistance of federal partners, local Search and Rescue, and CORSAR.

Police said McCoy was found dead around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, about 1.6 miles northwest of the boy’s residence and almost two miles by road.

The investigation continues.
