Man sentenced to more than three years in prison for installing illegal streaming services on Amazon Fire Sticks

A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for installing illegal TV streaming services on Amazon Fire Sticks.

Jonathan Edge, LiverpoolHe pleaded guilty to three offenses under the Fraud Act.

He was sentenced to three years and four months in prison, including a separate sentence of two years and three months for accessing and viewing content he provided.

Liverpool Crown Court heard Edge ran a service from his home that installed illegal services on Fire Stick devices in exchange for cash payments.

he used Facebook Advertising and word of mouth referrals to run his operation.

He ignored numerous warnings about illegal activity, which were cited by the judge and considered an aggravating factor in the sentence.

The investigation was undertaken by the Premier League and supported by many other organisations, including FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft) and Merseyside Police.

Premier League general counsel Kevin Plumb said: “The significant penalty imposed on the individual concerned serves to once again highlight the seriousness of his actions.

“We will continue to take legal action against those who provide unauthorized access to Premier League football, regardless of the size or form of business. Ignoring warnings to stop only served to worsen the consequences for the individual.”
