The Muscle Aid Foundation in Waterlooville made this trip possible thanks to funding from BBC Children in Need.

So-called “muscle warrior days” offer “highly personalized” support to people with MD, says the charity’s Michael McGrath.

“These things bring a tremendous amount of joy and happiness to a young person, but also provide things like confidence, self-esteem, social connection, bringing families together,” he explains.

“I define it as changing lives and giving hope.”

Dakota says she feels “happy” to have had an opportunity that not many people have.

“It was a great day, I got to see all the cars I love,” says the petrolhead.

“I don’t really go out much so it’s nice to get out and enjoy the world while I can.”
