Rising Storm 2: Vietnam It was released in 2017 and was last updated in June 2021, more than three years ago. At least that was the case until yesterday, when developer Tripwire Interactive released an update. surprise update It aims to improve server behavior and security and fix a number of VOIP-related bugs.

Rising Storm 2 Updates: Vietnam had a fairly steady flow until the minor 1.6.1 patch in June 2021; After that, it was almost complete silence, save for a “community game night” in July 2021 and a double XP event for Halloween in 2023. This is understandable: after all, this is a seven-year-old game and the number of concurrent players has not changed. It hasn’t broken the four-digit mark since early 2023. Under these conditions, a quiet decline can be expected.

So why this new update? The short version is that people are still playing games and Tripwire apparently has some free time.

“Rising Storm 2: Vietnam still has an active community, and we’re always monitoring feedback from our players,” Tripwire marketing director Mike Schmitt told PC Gamer. “This new quality of life update addresses issues consistently raised by the fan base, and over the last few months we’ve been able to dedicate bandwidth to resolve these issues.”

Here is the full list of changes:

General

  • Improved server behavior and security.

VoIP

  • Fixed common issues with intentionally muting other players.

  • Fixed issues where players could continue to hear players on the server they disconnected from after leaving the server.

  • Fixed common issues where players in the same party could not hear each other.

  • Fixed an issue where Steam Client Headset device settings were not automatically detected, resulting in the microphone not being enabled on the server.

  • Fixed issues where spawning players could hear actively spawning players in the Spawn Point selection screen and vice versa.

  • Fixed issues where muted players were automatically unmuted after reconnecting to the same server.

  • Fixed issues where players could still hear players after ending the game session and closing the client.

It’s great to see older games receiving this continued support and has led to a notable increase in player numbers. SteamDB shows that it recently reached a simultaneous peak of 1,390; It’s not huge, but it’s a big jump from the few hundred players who have played in the last few months. Still, fans shouldn’t get too excited about the resurrection of Rising Storm 2: Vietnam.

“Given that Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is a longer-running game, updates may become less frequent,” Schmitt said. “But we want to make sure our existing community and new players have the best experience possible with the game.”

If you don’t have Rising Storm 2: Vietnam in your library yet, now is the time to get it. The base game is on sale on: Steam You can drop the big bucks ($1.49) for the digital deluxe edition for $1.24, or which includes a host of cosmetics and the soundtrack.
