(CNN) – Hush puppies, once a staple on Red Lobster’s menu, are returning.

Hush puppies’ return is part of broader changes at the chain, which emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection under new ownership in September.

A 35-year-old CEO is hoping to turn around the fortunes of his seafood restaurant chain.

This week, a revamped menu is introduced, 20% smaller but featuring nine new items, including the popular cornmeal fritters.

One item that won’t be coming back anytime soon is the endless shrimp for 19.99.

The new CEO said “never say never,” but the restaurant can’t afford a money-losing menu item.
