11 November Topic post title he said: “BREAKING NEWS: Donald Trump just announced that Senator Marco Rubio will be Secretary of State. Here’s Rubio admitting that the Trump Presidency will depend heavily on the Heritage Foundation’s 2025 Project plans. Retweet so every American sees this clip.”

In the Threads video, Rubio said: “Thank you to Heritage for inviting us here, giving us an opportunity, and for all the scholarship they’ve done here. It really serves as a beacon for a lot of the public policies that we choose to do.”

The project did not mention 2025 and in the entire video April 15, 2015 event where Rubio joined Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, to discuss tax reform.

Rubio didn’t mention Project 2025 in 2015 because that wasn’t the plan Released until April 2023. The video also shows the “Road to the White House 2016” logo. (Two days earlier, Rubio had announced his own presidential run, which would end in March 2016, after Trump defeated him in the Florida Republican primary.)

Trump tried to distance himself from Project 2025 during the campaign, calling parts of the plan “nonsense.”New York Times reported this About 175 former Trump administration officials and advisers helped write the plan, and some of its policy proposals, such as eliminating the Education Department, echo Trump’s proposals.

Trump so far named Tom Homan, formerly director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, serves as its “border czar.” Homan, a visiting fellow at the Heritage Foundation, is listed as one of dozens of Project 2025 contributors.

A. CBS News analysis More than 700 specific policy proposals were found in Project 2025. The review found that at least 270 people aligned with Trump’s past policies or recent campaign promises.

Project 2025 calls for sweeping overhauls of the executive branch and draws on long-held conservative principles, such as tax cuts that Trump has agreed to or could agree to. Trump issued a less specific statement of his own agenda During the 2024 presidential campaign.

When asked about Project 2025 in July CNN interviewRubio said he likes the Heritage Foundation and some of what it represents. But he described Project 2025 as the work of a think tank, not something that speaks for Trump.

There may be some overlap between Project 2025 and the policies Trump will seek to enact, but the claim that this video from 2015 shows Rubio “acknowledging” that Trump will rely heavily on the plan is False.
