Giant XXL TVs are very popular this holiday season, but are they worth buying?

One of the hottest gifts this holiday season won’t fit under the Christmas tree.

This is because their diameter can be almost 100 inches or more than 8 feet.

They are known as “supergiants” or “XXL TVs” at Best Buyand ironically we have arrived at a time when most of us hold our media on tiny 3-inch screens.

You may remember that just a few years ago, the entire range when it came to 4KTVs was 65 inches.

But now 85 is the new 65 and they go up from there.

Best Buy’s Tyler Curtis says you can now buy a 98-inch or even 100-inch TV that can take up nearly an entire wall.

Best of all, he said, “you have free installation on 98 and up to make it easy to get such a big TV into your home.”

Are extra-large sets worth considering?

Some of these 98-inch TVs sell for $2,500 or more, with “budget” sets starting around $1,500

If the price is right for you, should you consider one?

First, make sure your living room or family room is large enough. A 98-inch set might be too large to hang above the fireplace and would look ridiculously large in a modest living room.

If that sounds like too big for your needs, the good news is that you’ll find 85-inch TVs for under $1,000 this holiday season, with Black Friday sales expected to drop by as much as $600.

Matt Goans of Walmart said the store Early Black Friday sales are live nowSome of the biggest sales still occur on Thanksgiving evening and the day after the holiday.

“Our 85-inch television will be part of a special sale that Walmart is having on Thanksgiving night,” Goans said.

Shopper Chuck Duray plans to switch to XXL TV at Best Buy this holiday season.

“Probably 75 inches,” he said as he looked at the wall of 4KTVs.

Kaley Polk would love it too, especially since you can do everything from home now.

“I prefer shopping online to stores, it’s less crowded,” she said.

This way you wait for delivery.

However, keep in mind that you can’t haul an 85- or 95-inch TV in the back of an SUV, so ask for delivery or find a friend with a good-sized pickup truck so you don’t waste your money.
