Although control of the House of Representatives is not yet projected by ABC News, Republicans are moving toward maintaining their slim majority.

But Trump has already selected several lawmakers to serve in his administration: Rep. Elise Stefanik as ambassador to the United Nations and Rep. Mike Waltz as national security adviser.

Asked about the issue on Tuesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson said he had spoken to Trump several times about the issue.

“We have a really talented Republican Congress… Many of them could serve in important positions in the new administration. But President Trump fully understands and appreciates the math here, and it’s just a numbers game,” Johnson said. “You know, we believe we will have a larger majority than last time.”

The speaker added: “I don’t expect any more of our members to leave, but I’ll leave that to him.”
