Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brent Burns will likely be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame when he hangs up his skates, but what he did off the ice probably made him as famous as anything he did on it.

Burns, 39, is a veteran of 1,428 NHL games. He won the Norris Trophy as the league’s top defenseman in 2017 and ranks 21st all-time in points per game among defensemen with 1,000 or more games played.

He and the Hurricanes will be in Salt Lake City on Wednesday to face the Utah Hockey Club.
