A 14-year-old girl was arrested for allegedly stabbing her father multiple times in the chest and hand after an argument.

According to the Shreveport Police Department, just after 7 p.m. on Nov. 11, officers were called to the 2700 block of Lakehurst Street for a report of a stabbing.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was later transported to Ochsner LSU Health, where his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

According to the statement given by the young man’s mother to the police, the 14-year-old girl was responsible for the stabbing.

The teen was arrested and charged with a single count of attempted second-degree murder.

The Shreveport Police Department said the department is urging residents to get help before shootings turn violent. The ministry said “resources and support are available for those experiencing domestic or family disputes, and we encourage anyone in need to reach out to prevent potential harm.”
