“Dancing with the Stars” Celebrates 500th Episode with a Tearful Tribute to Len Goodman (Exclusive)

The long-running dance show will debut its landmark episode on Tuesday, November 12.

Dancing with the Stars marks a milestone achievement!

The long-running competitive dance show will hit its 500th episode on Tuesday, Nov. 12, and in PEOPLE’s exclusive look at the show’s most iconic moments, ABC is celebrating the stars, pros, and judges who made the feat possible.

“For about 20 years Dancing with the Stars it has wowed us all, and on Tuesday we will celebrate our 500th episode together,” a voiceover tells us as the video flashes back to 2005 and speeds up to 2024.

The short clip features some of the show’s most iconic moments and viral performances from celebrities: JoJo Siwa, Charli D’Amelio and current contestant Dwight Howard‘S. Familiar faces are also treated as shots of the host with a blast from the past Alfonso Ribeiro and the judge Derek Hough game racing on the screen.

“21 Emmys, 394 stars, 51 professionals and 32 winners,” the voiceover continues with photos of the contestants celebrating their victory.

“Wonderful!” late judge Len GoodmanHer voice echoes across the screen as she blows a kiss to the winning couple. The retrospective suddenly turns emotional when a photo of Goodman flashes over the video.

“We are shocked and saddened by the news of Len Goodman’s passing,” Alfonso says before announcing. “As a tribute to him, we redesigned and renamed our ultimate award: the Len Goodman mirror ball award.”

His manager, Jackie Gill, said: BBC News Goodman was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.

“We are deeply saddened to announce that Len Goodman passed away peacefully at the age of 78,” Gill said in a statement. “A much-loved husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.”

In addition to his popular role DWTS As head judge, the UK-born television star was also head judge on: Definitely Come DanceBritish version of the dance competition series. The show ran from 2004 to 2016, and Goodman appeared in all seasons.
