The Princess of Wales is known for her active lifestyle and reportedly starts each day with a nutrient-packed, energizing green juice that’s quite different from her regular morning coffee or tea.

According to Hello! magazine, Kate’s morning smoothie combines seven powerful ingredients: kale, spinach, lettuce, blueberries, spirulina powder, a small teaspoon of matcha powder, and coriander. This nutrient-dense concoction has led some to dub it “pond water,” but the health benefits behind it are no laughing matter.

Nutritionist Helen Bell from Help & Advice weighed in on the benefits of Kate’s supercharged juice, the Daily Record reports. “The term ‘superfood’ is often used loosely, but it refers to foods that provide high levels of beneficial nutrients,” Bell said. “

Kale, spinach, and spirulina in Kate’s smoothie offer a variety of essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, while blueberries are widely recognized for their powerful antioxidant properties. Matcha, a concentrated form of green tea, is also a rich source of catechins, a type of antioxidant known to help protect cells.

Bell also underlined that regularly including such superfoods in one’s diet can positively affect cholesterol levels. Leafy greens like kale and spinach specifically help lower “bad” LDL cholesterol, and blueberries may also contribute to better heart health and improved cholesterol levels.

“Although no single food can significantly alter cholesterol, a balanced diet that includes these components may support heart health overall,” Bell said.
