FARMINGTON, NY – A woman died after being struck by a car while riding her e-bike in Farmington on Monday. Those who live in the area say this is not the first serious accident in the area.

The accident occurred just before 5 p.m. at the intersection of highways 96 and 332. Don Bombace has owned Bombace Wine & Spirits near the intersection for 25 years. Security cameras recorded many accidents during this time.

“Just last Friday. “A car was turning left on 332 heading towards Victor and a car coming from the Thruway cornered them and it was a pretty serious accident,” Bombace said.

Bombace said that he reached out to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the issue but did not receive a response. Now he takes matters into his own hands.

“I had called the DOT with my concerns and things like that. “As a result, nothing happened or happened,” he said. “I’ve also started a petition with Victor and his Farmington neighbors, and already close to 700 people have signed the petition. We’re reaching out through Facebook pages to see what people think about it. And almost everyone agrees nothing is being done. But it’s time to do something.” ” said Bombace.

Bombace fears the intersection could damage the small town’s reputation.

“We have people coming into the store, and I don’t know how many people came in today and said, ‘Thank you so much.’ ‘I’m afraid to drive through this intersection.’ I walk around and these are the residents of our town talking. Why you should be afraid of driving in your own community And yet people work around it so they don’t have to go through it. This is not healthy for a growing small town like Farmington. “We want to attract people to the area,” Bombace said.

State Police say a 24-year-old Rochester woman hit the rider of an e-bike. He was not charged.
