Look no further than these two points in pennsylvania.

Accordingly a new WalletHub studyPhiladelphia-Camden-Wilmington, Pa.-NJ-Del. The metro area is the eighth-best winter vacation destination for cold weather lovers in the United States.

While Pittsburgh came in at No. 11, it also ranked third overall as one of the cheapest getaways on the list.

Interestingly, an area that might evoke thoughts of warmer weather — the Atlanta, Ga., metro area — ranked first on the list.

“The Atlanta metro area is the top cold weather winter travel destination for 2024, although it is not as cold as other cities on the list,” the study states. “Atlanta has so many attractions, and especially so many shopping malls, spas, food festivals, and restaurants per capita.

“The cheapest flights to Atlanta from major cities during the winter travel season only require an average of 0.4 connections (meaning most flights have no connections at all) and can cost as little as $278.”

The second best winter vacation destination for those who like the cold was the New York metropolitan area. Rounding out the top three was the Washington DC metropolitan area in third place.

“Whether you love chilling to the bone during the winter travel season or prefer to escape to a sunny destination, reaching top travel destinations by plane from major U.S. cities with no connections can cost as little as $200-$300.” said WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo.

“The best cities, in addition to being affordable, have high-quality restaurants and relatively low crime rates, as well as plenty of tourist attractions to suit their weather conditions.”
