Dog team arrives from San Diego to search for missing man with Alzheimer’s disease near Sunrise Mansion

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A search has been ongoing for days in the Sunrise Mansion area to find a missing man with Alzheimer’s disease. David Ramirez, 62, was last seen leaving his home near the Desert Inn and Hollywood.

“He’s a very friendly senior, he loves people… He’s kind,” cried Julieta Jimenez, describing her missing father and the community’s search for him.
“The support from the community and Red Rock (Search and Rescue) has been incredible,” Jimenez maintained.
On Wednesday morning, Ramirez was captured on doorbell video stepping outside his front door and standing there for a minute, slowly walking toward the street. Two years ago he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
“He comes and goes, it’s not a consistent thing… I’m hoping this is an episode and he’ll come to his senses,” Jimenez said.
More than 100 volunteers: friends, family, neighbors and complete strangers search the area on foot, dirt bikes and by car.
“Red Rock Search and Rescue came to my house and took a sample of his scent to use with the K9s… They started searching my neighborhood… The dogs take them to the laundry room behind my house… The dogs couldn’t continue the search because it was dark and they didn’t have boots,” he said. Jimenez.
While the chances of finding him alive are decreasing day by day, his family does not sleep, does not work, just searches and does not lose hope.
“We’re trying to stay hopeful. That’s why I’m asking everyone to watch out for him… I want him at home,” Jimenez said.

Search Dogs are coming to town Monday night to pick up the 24/7 call from San Diego, California.
Ramirez has tattoos on both calves, both shoulders and fingers. He is missing a front tooth. If you see him, call Metro Police or his family immediately.

The family can be reached at 702-969-5586. They ask that you share this story on social media to raise awareness and reach as many people as possible to help Ramirez return home.
