HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A fire near Kapiolani Medical Center forced Honolulu police to close Punahou Street Monday evening.

Firefighters rushed to the building next to the hospital shortly after 6 p.m.

The address matches Hawaii Clinical Laboratories.

A wood frame in a duct smoldered, but crews were able to extinguish the fire in about an hour, HFD said.

While HFD responded, HPD closed the northbound lanes of Punahou Street from Beretania Street to Bingham Street.

No injuries were reported.

The damage estimate and cause are not yet known.
