Caravan storage site near Doncaster recommended to be rejected

Plans to build a caravan storage area on farmland have been recommended for rejection by planners.

Under the proposals, up to 642 mobile homes would be stored on Ashton Lane in Braithwell.

Doncaster councilors Martin Greenhalgh and Nigel Cannings argued demand for the facility was high.

But council planning officers said the site was green belt land and the planning application should be rejected at a meeting on Tuesday.

Applicant Pawson Group said there was an “urgent need” for caravan sites in the area. Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The proposals also include plans for a wildlife area in the area.

But Doncaster Council’s planning team said any benefits would not compensate for the “damages” to the greenbelt.

They said: “Due to its rural location and poor accessibility this area is not a suitable location for the proposed development.”

The final decision will be made by the council members at the meeting.
