2 more arrests, including 1 fugitive, in the murder-for-hire plot against Minnesota missionary in Africa

Family members say Beau Shroyer wanted to help people. So it made sense and his wife and five children were to move to Angola To feed hungry children in Africa.

“Beau was very strong. He was honest. He was consistent. He was honest,” said Bret Shroyer, Beau’s cousin.

But what doesn’t make sense is how the former Detroit Lakes police officer and real estate agent died half a world away from home.

“It’s a shock. It’s terrible. This is not something anyone could have expected,” Bret said.

Angolan Press Agency He said a security guard at Shroyer’s home and another man in his 20s were arrested in an alleged murder-for-hire conspiracy that led to Shroyer’s death. A third man is currently at large.

The agency said Shroyer was lured to a remote area outside the city of Lubango by suspects pretending to have car trouble, where Shroyer was stabbed to death with an American-made police knife seized as evidence along with about $5,000 in Angolan currency.

“Just shock and disbelief,” Bret said.

Angola police believe Shroyer’s wife, Jackie Shroyer, is the mastermind behind the plan because they suspect Shroyer of having an affair with the security guard and because she does not want to leave the country when her husband’s tour of duty ends.

They say she offered to pay the men $50,000 for her husband’s murder and that she is in custody.

“We’re not going to blame anyone until the evidence is available, but we can’t get any information. We don’t know which side is right. There’s no way of knowing what’s going on,” Bret said.

Shroyer’s family members want to bring his body back to Minnesota to rest while they wait for definitive answers as to why he was taken from them so soon.

“We want to know that there is justice here for Beau because he is the victim of all of this and we are suffering for that,” Bret said.

Bret says Beau’s mother-in-law is in Angola caring for the couple’s five children.
