A Rensselaer bridge has been renamed in memory of a fallen hero.

The Washington Avenue Bridge will now be the CW2 Casey N. Frankoski Memorial Bridge, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Monday.

The bridge at Washington Boulevard crosses I-90 in Rensselaer.

Frankoski He died in a military helicopter crash on the US-Mexico border last March. He graduated from Columbia High School in East Greenbush.

New York Guard John Grassia III of Rotterdam was also killed.

National Guard member Jacob Pratt of Rensselaer was seriously injured.
