Club confirms ‘legendary’ Van Nistelrooy and three other coaches will leave following Amorim’s arrival

Manchester United announced that Ruud van Nistelrooy and three other members of its technical team have left Old Trafford, while Ruben Amorim plans to start a new era.

United fans and players alike wanted the 48-year-old to stay, given his reputation as a top manager and his passion for the club.

However, this was always unlikely as Van Nistelrooy has spoken openly of his desire to become a full-time manager once again.

Having Van Nistelrooy at United could call Amorim’s authority into question.

Announcement comes later Amorim He has landed in England to officially begin his duties as United’s new boss.

The Portuguese footballer is seen speaking to several members of the club’s hierarchy, including sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox.

Amorim’s backroom staff has not yet been revealed, and the United States has stated that this will happen ‘in due course’.

Not only did the Red Devils meet Amorim’s €10m (£8.3m/$10.6m) release clause, but they also paid an extra €1m for four members of the Sporting CP set-up.

These are first team coaches Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido and Emanuel Ferro, goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital and sports scientist Paulo Barreira.

Meanwhile, football finance expert Stefan Borson has given his verdict on how much money Amorim might have to spend at United in January.

Although Borson refuted such speculation, there were concerns that United’s firing and hiring managers had exhausted almost their entire January budget.

One of the players United is interested in is Alphonso Davies, whose contract at Bayern Munich will expire at the end of the season.

However, TEAMtalk can reveal Barcelona are in a strong position to sign the left-back for an initial contract as he would be open to a reunion with manager Hansi Flick.
